Public Service Announcements run during commercial time, on radio, television and online in all markets. While traditional broadcast stations are no longer required by law to allocate a certain amount of time to PSAs, most stations use PSAs that serve their specific audiences. PSAs must serve the public with educational or informative content, avoiding a direct request for donations or monetary support.
Ideal topics include education, environment, health and safety. PSAs must be sponsored by a non-profit association, usually a 501(c)(3) organization. Online outlets may not have the same duty to a local community as a local broadcast station. However, in order to create broad awareness of an issue, the Internet must be tapped as a viable medium to get your message out. Boom will create a well-balanced strategy for your PSA.
The process for getting a PSA campaign up and going is:
- Production: Boom can produce your PSA or you can provide us with the completed spots. The budget range for production of a PSA can vary greatly. We’ll work with you to create a spot that will get the attention it deserves whether television, radio or online within your budget parameters.
- Distribution strategy: Boom will work with you to determine what medium will be most effective and efficient for reaching your audience and generating the desired call to action.
- Tracking and reporting: Once the PSA is out, we’ll provide usage reports that include air dates, stations, markets and metrics relevant to the media whether television, radio or online.
